Memorandum 2 - Response to David's phone call

David Copperfield called me up on April 26, 2005, in an attempt to make my lawsuit disappear. It was an honor talking to David, as he is an idol of mine, but David insisted that his illusions are done conventionally.  But when I asked to simply go to his studio to witness/prove this for myself, he declined with "I cannot show you my trade secrets."  I believe the "trade secret" is actually godly powers.  That's what I'm trying to prove.  David has said many times that "imagination" is a key ingredient to his illusions. "Let the imagination guide you on your journey".  This is the definition of godly powers.

Thanks to shows like "Magician's Secrets Revealed", with all the pressure on the magicians to be one step better than the competition, an agent (that can grant them powers) approached hundreds or thousands of magicians with an offer to do the unimaginable - magic via the imagination.  These magicians could not resist this temptation of a lifetime.  Magicians have to always convey that it's an illusion (like smoke/mirrors), and present a plausible explanation for the magic - a viable way that his godly magic can be done via conventional reasoning. David could just disappear on stage, but that's too incredible (unexplainable) - so instead, he puts a curtain around him, then disappears.  And that somehow makes it more explainable, David!  I saw his show in Sioux Falls, SD, 2002.  I thought he was the real deal - I was right.

So the trick for the magicians is not so much in the magic, but in the duality of the magic - in other words, they need to create a trick that has a real explanation.  So while they make up tricks, they're making a "Reveal All" CD so you understand that it's just an illusion. Of course, no amount of conventional training can match the sleight-of-hand these true magicians are performing.  Most of the magician's assistants may be knowledgeable to the magic, but some are given an alternate explanation for the magic as well.

It is this "keeping it real" concept that some of these magician's forgot about.  I know magicians Penn and Teller have powers, but for every trick they show that's unexplainable, they show two more tricks that are done via tricks on the eyes - they even show how the trick is done many times.  Penn and Teller know how to keep it real.  In an ironic twist, though, they have a ShowTime series called BullS#!$ that puts down all paranormal phenomenon, even though they have godly powers always at their disposal.  This is how deceptive the profession of magician is - all in a quest to protect the secret, while keeping me from benefiting financially.  So when David calls me on the phone and insists they're just regular tricks, I'm sorry David, but the word magician has magic in it, and your words, like illusion, is just an illusion - meaning you're just blowing smoke and mirrors on my mind.  I believe David Copperfield, being the forerunner, was given a little bit more leniency with his magic, but when he was seen flying through the air without wires and without explanation, the rules to the magic (keeping it real) were being broken (crossing the line).  Unlike Penn and Teller, this is how bold (and careless) some magicians are, giving me the proof I need to file this lawsuit.

It is hard to set up a show just anywhere.  Celine Dion has a special stage made for her dancers to perform. Many Vegas acts require a special stage to enhance the performance.  David, on the other hand, can set up his tricks on any stage throughout the country, tricks that normally would require complex pulley and rope systems for levitation purposes.  It's all very simple when you have godly powers at your disposal.

Now I know David has some assistants who are well-informed of how these tricks work, and David has them sign confidentiality agreements so they don't reveal the secrets during and after employment.  As I said in my last memo, I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. I have no problem signing any confidentiality agreements in a quest to research how these illusions are done, all at my own expense. I thought of a better plan - to go backstage with David at one or two of his shows, to watch the setup, and watch the tricks backstage.  This seems like the simplest solution - I will be like a fly on the wall, not bothering anybody, while at the same time, understanding how these tricks are done, and if conventional, I will then drop the suit that David was asking me to do over the phone.  Maybe while there, David will even make me disappear.

If a handful of Fox specials called "Magicians Secrets Revealed" can expose these "trade secrets" very publicly without recourse, then I can be allowed to know some of these trade secrets privately.  I believe the trade secret is actually godly magic, and that "Magician Secrets Revealed" was actually a ploy to get conventional magicians converted over to real (godly) magic, by exposing many of the conventional tricks, magician's then had no more tricks up their sleeve, and no choice but to go to the next level - real (godly) magic.  And I'm sure that agent was getting kickbacks (commission) from granting my powers to those magicians.

I would imagine this kind of publicity might be bad for David's business, so it might be advantageous to settle this out of court and keep the results quiet.  Or perhaps the defense is unhappy with the amount I'm suing for or the percentage - that can also be negotiated.  In addition, if the defense wishes, I will not reveal the results or the dollar amount from the settlement publicly, but I will need the results to settle matters against other companies who I feel have also been using my godly powers.

In trying to keep this simple, I need to see how the tricks are done before I can drop the suit.  "Trade Secret" is no excuse, but just another illusion.  Any delay by the defense further convinces me and probably the court that I am indeed correct about my suspicions.

Respectfully submitted,
